Akoye, also known as Lohiki or Maihiri (Mai-Hea-Ri), is an Angan language of Papua New Guinea.
Phonology
Akoye has a small phonemic inventory, which is not well described.[1]
Consonants are Script error: No such module "IPA". and maybe Script error: No such module "IPA"..[2] The first four are usually voiced to Script error: No such module "IPA". after a monophthongal vowel, though sometimes the voicing is blocked for unknown reasons.

Vowels are Script error: No such module "IPA".. Diphthongs (Script error: No such module "IPA".) are said to be rare, though vowel sequences are common, so these are perhaps not equivalent.[3]

The most complex syllable is CCVV: Script error: No such module "IPA". 'hair', Script error: No such module "IPA". 'eye'.
Tone plays a role: Script error: No such module "IPA". 'sky', Script error: No such module "IPA". 'lid'; Script error: No such module "IPA". (sp. bird), Script error: No such module "IPA". 'body'.
