The glottal stop Script error: No such module "IPA". is not part of the orthography but appears frequently in Template:Harvcoltxt's survey data, typically word-initially and word-finally.
Template:Harvcoltxt's orthography guide describes ⟨c j⟩ as 'alveo-palatal occlusives', using the phonetic transcriptions Script error: No such module "IPA"., but states Script error: No such module "IPA". as sounding like ⟨tch⟩ to French speakers. It is therefore unclear if the transcriptions are truly phonetic or if they are being used more loosely and are actually referring to the postalveolar affricates Script error: No such module "IPA"., which have sometimes been transcribed with Script error: No such module "IPA". in IPA illustrations and may also be described as 'alveo-palatal occlusives', though ambiguous. The author's original transcriptions are used in the chart above. Similarly, Malo explicitly states ⟨ch⟩ is not a fricative [ʃ] as it is in French, but it is unclear if it refers to Script error: No such module "IPA". or Script error: No such module "IPA".. Template:Harvcoltxt's survey data includes multiple examples of Script error: No such module "IPA". with occasional realization as Script error: No such module "IPA". (depending on the dialect) as well as examples of Script error: No such module "IPA". (which are acoustically similar to Script error: No such module "IPA".), and no examples of affricates, suggesting that they may truly be (alveo-)palatal plosives.

All vowels have nasalized forms and are written with the typical tilde above. In some dialects, the nasal vowels Script error: No such module "IPA". may be realized as [æ̃] or Script error: No such module "IPA".. The mid central vowel [ə] appears in a small subset of Template:Harvcoltxt's survey data as a realization of Script error: No such module "IPA"..
Labialization of consonants is written with the close back rounded vowels Template:Angbr IPA, rather than typical Template:Angbr IPA. The close front unrounded vowel Template:Angbr IPA may be realized as palatalization on the preceding consonants.
Tones
There are two phonemic tones, high Template:Angbr IPA and low Template:Angbr IPA, as well as a lexically contrastive but non-phonemic downstepped high tone Template:Angbr IPA. The low tone is written with the grave accent Template:Angbr IPA (as in IPA), the downstepped high tone is written with the acute accent Template:Angbr IPA, and the plain high tone is unmarked. Template:Harvcoltxt's survey data also shows phonetic possibility of mid Template:Angbr IPA and falling Template:Angbr IPA tones.
