SPDEF

Template:Short description An Error has occurred retrieving Wikidata item for infobox SAM pointed domain-containing Ets transcription factor is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SPDEF gene.[1][2][3]

Originally named PDEF [4](Prostate derived ETS factor, also called PSE or prostate specific ETS [5]), SPDEF is an ETS transcription factor expressed in prostate epithelial cells. In the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, it is expressed in mucus-secreting cells including intestinal and airway goblet cells, intestinal Paneth cells, gastric mucus gland and mucus neck cells, and Brunner's gland cells. [6][7][8] In the prostate, SPDEF acts as an androgen-independent transactivator of PSA (MIM 176820) expression.[supplied by OMIM][3]

Interactions

SPDEF has been shown to interact with NKX3-1.[9]
