Production and style
Large portions of the music on Submers was from classical music that had been sampled and distorted by Morgan.[1] AllMusic described the sound on Submers as not being very different from than Morgan's previous album Triple Point, noting that the "only significant difference is the emphasis on waves of rhythm over thumps and pulses."[2]
Each track on Submers is named after a submarine.[2] These ranged from early submarines such as the Gymnote to the Russian submarine Kursk (K-141).
Release
Submers was released by Kranky via compact disc on November 4, 2002.[3][4] The album was reissued on vinyl for the first time on November 23, 2018, by Kranky.[5]
