Supaul is a Town and municipality that is headquarters of Supaul district in the Indian state of Bihar.

There are 11 blocks under the Supaul district: Supaul, Kishanpur, Saraigarh-Bhaptiyahi, Pipra, Triveniganj, Raghopur, Chhatapur, Nirmali, Marauna, Basantpur and Pratapganj.

Supaul, previously part of Saharsa district, is part of the Mithila region.[3]

It is also known as Gateway of the Kosi region or The heart of Kosi Region because it is the geographical capital of kosi subregion.

Supaul name is a word from Sanskrit it means good place to live. In supaul su = good and aul = place



History

Supaul has a good place. It was administratively Established in 1800 in the rule of Darbhanga Raj. It has been a part of Mithila (region) And Videha. Supaul has been referred as the fishery area (Matasya Kshetra) in the Hindu mythology in ancient times.[5]
