Usage

When you create or find a new page within the scope of WikiProject Birds please add any of the following to the top of its talk page:

Unused parameters may be omitted. This template automatically adds articles to Template:Cl.

Optional parameters

• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • This parameter populates Template:Cl.
• class – valid values are fa, a, ga, b, c, start, stub, fl, list, na (case-insensitive). See the project's quality scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |class= blank or omit the parameter.
• importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the project's importance scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |importance= blank or omit the parameter.
• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Charles Darwin, use |listas=Darwin, Charles so that the talk page will show up in the D's and not the C's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter.   If the article is using Template:Tl then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.
• needs-audio – set |needs-audio=yes to request that an audio file(s) be included in the article to improve its quality.
  • This parameter populates Template:Cl.
• needs-image – set |needs-image=yes to request that a photograph, map, drawing, diagram, equation, or other image be added to the page. Leave blank or delete if not.
• in: Used in conjunction with the needs-image=yes parameter to place the image request into a specific location, such as a country. Leave blank or delete if not.
  • Additional in2 and in3 parameters are used in conjunction with the needs-image=yes parameter and may be used to specify up to three location categories (such as for celebrities and other people who may frequent multiple county locations).
  • This parameter populates Template:Cl.
• needs-map – set |needs-map=yes to request that a range map be included in the article to improve its quality.
• in: Used in conjunction with the needs-map=yes parameter to place the image request into a specific location, such as a country. Leave blank or delete if not.
  • Additional in2 and in3 parameters are used in conjunction with the needs-map=yes parameter and may be used to specify up to three location categories (such as for celebrities and other people who may frequent multiple county locations).
  • This parameter populates Template:Cl.

• peer-review – set |peer-review=yes if the article is currently undergoing a peer review, or to request that the peer review process for this page should be begun.
  • This parameter populates Template:Cl.
• old-peer-review – set |old-peer-review=yes if the article has had a peer review which is now archived.
  • This parameter populates Template:Cl.
• Poultry task force – set |Poultry task force=yes if the article is supported by the Poultry task force.
  • This parameter populates Template:Cl.
  • Poultry task force-importance (only used if |Poultry task force=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Poultry task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Template:Cl.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Aliases

• The parameter |needs-photo= is recognised as an alias for |needs-image=. If both |needs-image= and |needs-photo= are present, |needs-photo= is ignored.
